A New York City Tennis Permit Costs $100. Is That Too Much? – The Wall Street Journal

Over the past five years, the New York City Parks Department has worked to make playing tennis in the city more accessible by lowering the price of the permits required to access courts, building more courts in neighborhoods across the city and expanding access for youth tennis programs.

The number of Parks Department-issued tennis permits has grown from 10,390 in 2015 to 13,775 last year, but a Wall Street Journal analysis shows the plurality of permit holders live in affluent, and largely white, Manhattan neighborhoods.
